Many cultures from all over the world have varrious different, and yet still quite similar stories of guardian spirits or creatures, whom dwell within the woods, or sometimes in natural bodies of water as protectors of thier enviroment and the animals which live therein.
These tales and the exsistince of these guardians within the stories seem to serve and act as a warning to people to resepct thier enviroment, its resources, and to live within thier means.
Often within these stories the guardian will become angered, malecious, agressive, and often even kill when a careless hunter or fisherman takes more then his fare share.
The best way to aviod the wrath of these spirits is usually to take caution and not take more then is nesscairy to feed themselves as well it is often customary to give some sort of offering to appease the guardian spirits.
