Incense is a very good thing to have around I find, and in most cases you can get a bag of 10 sticks for a buck, it makes a nice addition to a great many rites and rituals, as well as making a good addition to your altar.
Incense has been, and still is used by a great many cultures in varrying beleif systems for a great many different things. It is often used to aid in healing ritulas by Shamans and Medicine men. It is also seen in relation to and connection with divination and was burned in the temple of Delphi, and is seen as an assissitent in helping one to meditate.
As well it is seen as a way to help put one into a trance like state, and achive what is refered to as an altered state of consciosness.
