The message of the Five of Swords is acceptence of the henherent limitations of a situation and recognition that, no matter how resolute we are, we cannot change things even though we may be tempted to fight our way out. Although we are powerless to alter the status quo, this card suggests that once we have reconcliled ourselves to it, we can focus our energies on making a difference elsewhere.

Often the Five of Swords imbues us with a sense of humiliation, we may feel worthless becasue someone has managed to get the better or us, or we have taken on something too large to handle.

It is important that we stop banging our heads against the brick wall, for only then will we be able to face up to our responseablities and move on.
