The Empress is the symbol of fertility and new life. She embodies the dual aspects of motherhood. The joy of giving birth to a child and the mourning of the inevitable speration that is inherenet in beign a mother.

The fact that she is often depcited in a beautiful fetile enviroment surrounded by natures bounty reflects her creative power in the feminine. Demeter the grain-goddess is one of the many mythological figures that The Empress is associated with, underlining the theme of abundance.

Both marriage and motherhood are symbolized by this card and may indicate the birth of a child or a new creative project. In both cases devotion and careful nurturing are required.

Domestic stablity, protection, and maternal care are all charachtersitics of the Empress. This card indicates a strong sense of well-being, physcial security and emotional fulfillment.

We are able to surrender and flow with the rythem of life as well as secure a solid foundation for our future. A passionate deep love of life is refelctede in the Empress as well as a feeling of being able to "just be"
