The Lovers

The Lovers is one of my personaly faveorite cards

Sooner or later we are all faced with making significant choices in our lives. Often our desire to enter a relationship represents an attempt to unite the opposites within us and to know ourselves better through being with another.

The parts of ourselves that we deny or repress or are simply unaware of by they positive or negative are often mirrored in our partners. When these unknown aspects of our nature are refelcted back to us, we have an ooportunity to intergate them and become more whole. Such increased self-awareness equips us to take responseablity for our decisions.

The Lovers suggusts that choice should not be made lightly as there is often more at stake than we realize. Complications arise when descisions are made without conscious awareness of what motivates us to select one thing over another.

Sometimes this card refers to choice between a spiritual path and a sexual passion, or between intuition and reason. Once the choice has been made the pattern of our lives will change irrevocably.
