Falling Dreams

Here is an article I found reguarding possible explinations for the ever common dream of falling

As with most common dream themes, falling is an indication of insecurities, instabilities, and anxieties. You are feeling overwhelmed and out of control in some situation in your waking life. This may reflect the way you feel in your relationship or in your work environment. You have lost your foothold and can not hang on or keep up with the hustle and bustle of daily life. When you fall, there is nothing that you can hold on to. You more or less are forced toward this downward motion without any control. This lost of control may parallel a waking situation in your life.

Falling dreams also often reflect a sense of failure or inferiority in some circumstance or situation. It may be the fear of failing in your job/school, loss of status, or failure in love. You feel shameful and lack a sense of pride. You are unable to keep up with the status quo or that you don’t measure up.

According to Freudian theory, dreams of falling indicate that you are contemplating giving into a sexual urge or impulse. You maybe lacking indiscretion.

Falling dreams typically occur during the first stage of sleep. Dreams in this stage are often accompanied by muscle spasms of the arms, legs, and the whole body. These sudden contractions, also known as myclonic jerks. Sometimes when we have these falling dreams, we feel our whole body jerk or twitch and we awaken from this jerk. It is thought that this jerking action is part of an arousal mechanism that allows the sleeper to awaken and become quickly alert and responsive to possible threats in the environment.

Dreams of flying are one of the most common type of dreams to have, and though there could be uptine many different reasons for why any individual is experincing such a dream here is a guide that perhaps some of you can find useful in understanding your own flight dreams. This is by no means the only possible answer, but it might give some insight.

Flying Free

Flying free means that you will achieve your ambitions easily. Only modest efforts are required to steer you to success. The area you are flying over can give you further clues. For example, flying over your home indicates domestic sucess, flying over your place of word suggests career success.

Sprouting Wings

To sprout wings in a dream confers upon you the qualities of a visionary pioneer. The wings refer to the ethics and principles of a higher order than that of human law. To dream of having birds wings means that you will have the gift of foresight and may be able to fly into the future. Angelic wings suggest that you will soon hear news from an unexpected higher authority.

Floating/Flying Low Altitude

If you succesfully managed to float/fly by flapping your arms or peddiling your feet in the air, success is indicated through dogged but determined effort. The message here is to keep going and to stick to your guns. If there has been a bout of exhaustion or sickness, this dream promisies refilef from these problems.

Trying to Take Off and Failing

This dream indicates that the spirit is fruststarted, bogged down with the mundance aspects of life and unable to finad a way forward. Trying to take off and failing to do so implies that an ambition may be beyond your reach. The dreamer would benifit from re-evaluating their goals.

Losing Altitude

Flying succesfully for a while, then loosing control and drifting or falling back towrd the earth suggests that the ambition is wanning or that the dreamer should become less of a high flyer. To experience erractic flying implies either fear of the heights of success of ambiviance tword thier ambitions.

Flying Aided

Flying an airplane at high altitude means that you can exepct recgonition for the work you have done. Soaring in a glider implies that you will be supported in your endeavors through team effort. To fly on the back of a mythical creature such as Pegasus, the winged horse, suggests an armchair adventurer.

Flying Towrd the Light

This is a very rare and unsual dream that refers to experinces that have been lost. It relates to reconnecting with an aspect of your past. Flying through a bright light tword someone who has died implies a nostaligic journey and that it is the time to let go of the memories.

Becoming Hamepred in Flight

Genreally speaking, this relates to setbacks or postponement of your aspierations or a lack of confidence in your ability to reach goals. The conditions can give you clues to the nature of the setbacks; strong winds, for example suggest communication problems.

To dream of ones teeth and most particulary to dream of teeth falling out is another rather common dream type to have, so I have provided some possible insights to what that dream might mean. Again, these are not the only possiblities but might be of some use.

Teeth falling out: Loss of control over certain aspects of one's life. Powerlessness, unable to influence things or the outcome of things important. Loss of self-esteem in a situation or a chronic problem.

Dreams of losing teeth are often dreams of embarrassment or potentially embarrassing situations. The parallel waking experience could be summed up in the phrase "losing face" publicly.

Other possible teeth-loss dreams may come from physical sensations such as grinding your teeth or having particularly sensitive teeth

One theory is that dreams about your teeth reflect your anxiety about your appearance and how others perceive you. Teeth are used in the game of flirtations, whether it be a dazzling and gleaming smile or affectionate necking. These dreams may stem from a fear of your sexual impotence or the consequences of getting old. Teeth are an important feature of our attractiveness and presentation to others.

Teeth are used to bite, tear, chew and gnaw. In this regard, teeth represent power. And the loss of teeth in your dream may be from a sense of powerlessness. Are you lacking power in some current situation? Perhaps you are having difficulties expressing yourself or getting your point across. You feel frustrated when your voice is not being heard. You may be experiencing feelings of inferiority and a lack of self-confidence in some situation or relationship in your life. This dream is an indication that you need to be more assertive and believe in the value of your own opinion

The dream of being chased is one of the universially common dreams that near everyone has experinced at one point or another, probaly more then once, this is an article I found about the possible meanings behind the chase dream.

Chase dreams often stem from feelings of anxiety in your walking life. The way we respond to anxiety and pressure in real life is typically manifested as a chase dream. Running is an instinctive response to physical threats in our environment. Often in these dream scenarios, you are being pursued by some attacker, who wants to hurt or possibly kill you. You are running away, hiding, or trying to outwit your pursuer. Chase dreams may represent your way of coping with fears, stress or various situations in your waking life. Instead of confronting the situation, you are running away and avoiding it.?Ask yourself who is the one chasing you and you may gain some understanding and insight on the source of your fears and pressure.

The pursuer or attacker who is chasing you in your dream may also represent a part of yourself. Your own feelings of anger, jealousy, fear, and possibly love, can assume the appearance of threatening figure. You may be projecting these feelings onto the unknown chaser. Next time you have a chase dream, turn around and confront your pursuer. Ask them why they are chasing you.?

One may be consumed by their own anger, jealousy, love, or self-destructive behavior. For example, you may be drinking too much or exhibiting open hostility toward others around you. You may subconsciously be threatened by these actions which have been jeopardizing your relationships and/or career. Your dreams are a way of calling attention to these self-destructive actions.

A more direct analysis of chase dreams is the fear of being attacked. Such dreams are more common among women than men, who may feel physically vulnerable in the urban environment. These dreams are inspired by fears of violence and sexual assault in which we are so over-exposed from the media. The violence that the media portrays magnifies our fears and how at risk we all are

Dream Types

Here is a list of a varity of different types of dreams, and a breif explination for what they could mean, or reasons one might have one of thse dream types.

Projections

Dreams are projections, just as we are projected thought experiencing in physical reality. Dreams can be comprised of still images where you may see a face and telepathically receive information from that person or they can be animations wherein you view animated scenes.

Anxiety Dreams, Nightmares

These dreams often are fear-based and result in waking up with sweats and heart palpitations. There is generally a situation going on in the person's physical life that results in such dreams. Heed their warning and create change.

Creative Dreams

Within your dream you are shown something you are to create, perhaps something affecting the destiny of humanity. Famous inventors, writers, artists, and musicians were inspired by their dreams.

Color vs. Black and White Dreams

Some people feel that as a dream manifests into third dimension it moves from black and white to color definition. Other believe that black and white dreams are dreamtime but dreams in color are parallel experiences. Further, dreams in black and white indicate an event in the far future, then same scene later manifesting as a dream in color meaning it is getting closer to physical reality.

Teaching Dreams

Dreams can have layers that unfold over many days. In that time, Spirit can teach you through symbols of light or other means that raise your level of awareness. Shamanic dreams often teach lessons.

Repetitive Dreams

You have the same dream over and over as if a message is being sent from other side, which you have to understand. Very often it is you sending yourself a message, often a warning.

Universal Dreams

These dreams are related to information you receive from the collective unconscious, the grids of our experience, akashic records, hall of records, that which creates the reality in which we live. Whenever a dream presents symbols of a cosmic nature, in all probability it is a representation of a Universal dream. Such dreams are reflective of religious experiences, and denote changes that are to occur at some future time.

Shared Dreams

You remember the events in your dream, that involve another person. At the same time, another person in your dream remembers the same events

Spirit Dreams

Messages are given by those who have crossed over or a religious icon. These are often the soul of someone you knew, guiding your journey or telling you that they are okay on the other side

Sexual Dreams

Sex plays a major part in our dream world for many of us. This depends of its importance in our everyday lives. It's a powerful driving force, like hunger and ambition. While we're awake, sex is ruled by social restrictions and conventions, but in our dreams, even the most timid of us can have explicit and excitingly sexy dreams once our repressed selves are asleep. Sexual dreams are very coming during puberty.
