To alleviate the effects of short-term depression, light a yellow candle and meditate on how you feel right now. Give this feeling a name, such as Gus. The sillier the name, the better. Then light a a green candle. Meditate on your you feel now that you have named the previous feeling. Give this new feeling a name. Again, silly is good. Light a blue candle and meditate on how you feel now that you have named the previous feeling. Repat the routine. Finally light a red candle. Know that you have control over what you do with your emotions, just as you have control over choosing names for your emotions. Now you can allow yourself to be aware of what started the depression. For most people, something happend that initially caused anger and then caused fear.
