Besant: Comes in spring and celebrates rippening crops
Hol: After Besant, a rowdy frestival, celebrated by smeering each other in colors.
Besahk: Comes in April, celebrated on river banks with a combination of noise, rowdly merriment and a riverside picnic.
Rakhri or Raksha Brandhan (Protection Tie): Celebrated in August, festival of Brothers protection over sister. Is celebrated by the sister giving her brother a bracelet usually in return for some payment, and if she has no sister, it would go to a cousin or other male relative.
Dusserah: After Rakhri, celebration of Ram's defeat over the Demon King in which the story is renacted
Diwal: After Dusserah, celebrates Ram's resturn home after 14 years of exile.
