Herbs

Evening primrose: This is a beautiful plant, espcially at night when its lemon yellow scented flowers are at thier best. The seed contains a nutrutional oil.

Lady's mantle: One of a small number of plants that reproduces without fertilization, lady's mantle will seed itself quite freely. Caution: Aviod if you might be pregnant.

White deadnettle: Although it resembles the stinging nettle, this species does not sting, hence the common name "deadnettle"

Gathering

Aerial parts of lady's mantle and deadnettle as needed. Collect evening primrose seed at the seasons end.

Remedies

Evening primose supplemnt

When the evening primose has flowered, and the seed pods have formed and desiccated, cut the flower stalks and shake the seeds into a paper bag. Add the seed to a pepper mill or just sprinkle directly on to food. To help combat symptons of PMS, take 1/2 to one teaspoonful every day.

Tea for irregular periods

Make a cup with one leaf of lady's mantle and a sprig of white deadnettle per cup of boiling water. Drink one cup twice a day for three months to balance the harmones. This can be made into a tincture for a winter use. Take one seaspoonful twice a day for three months.
