Herbs

German chamonmile: Because it seems to have a benifical effect on ailing plants, German chemonmile is sometimes called the "plants physician"

Black horehound: True to its Shropshire name "Stinging Roger" this plant smells most unplesant but it is nonetheless an effective remedy for nausea.

Raspberry: Wheather you buy a wild or cultivated one, this plant is unlikely to bear fruit in a pot. The leaves have been used for centuries by women preparing for childberth.

Pot marigold: A cold infused oil made from this versatile plant can be rubbed into the breasts and abdomen to help prevent stetch marks.

Gathering

Pot marigold and chamomile flowers as they appear. Pick raspberry leaves as needed. Pick leaves of horehound as the plant comes into bloom.

Remedies

Pot marigold wash for years infections

Make an infusion with two handfuls of flowers to 2 cups water. Steeep for 15mins. Strain and cool. Bathe the vulva with this wash as needed.

Raspberry leaf tea

Make a cup with three leaves per cup of boiling water. Drink warm three times a day for the final six months of pregnancy to help ease labor. Add lemon to vary the flavor.

Tea for morning sickness

Make a tea with a few chamonmile flowers and two leaves of black horehound. Stir in some honey and let cool. Sip a cupful on waking and at intervals throughout the morning.
