In Gypsy lore onions are powerful symbols of emotion becasue tears emerge as you cut one. According to Gypsy Tradition to grow love in the wilderness, a young girl should plant an onion and infuse it with all her being. It should be watered with all the tears of your past dissapointments, but you should not be reminded too much of the past while you are assure your future.
Here is a spell derived from old Gypsy tradition, but altered to fit more into the world of today.
You will need: A small onion still with its roots, a narrow-necked glass jar marked with your name and filled with water, a tera-cotta pot.
Place your baby onion into the jar with the roots just touching the water's surface to encourage the onion's growth. Every day, at the same hour, freshen the water and see in your onion's smooth surface a picture of your face laughing and happy. Now, as it begins to show life, a love will appear, and as it grows more, so too the love will grow steadily.
Plant the now shooting onion in the terra-cotta pot, and if your love has a name by now, write it with your own and place it in the earth around the onion bulb. As the onion grows transplant it to a large size pot. The relationship will grow stronger.
